VACUUM SYMPOSIUM UK

MEETING PROGRAMME BRIEF

The Trustees seek willing organisers to ‘deliver’ a meeting programme for VS3 and beyond.  Note that two days of Programme are required for the Vacuum Symposium UK Meeting – this can be fulfilled by one 2-day programme, or two 1-day programmes.

1. Programme organiser to be at least one person, preferably two people with the Assistant ‘learning the ropes’ to take lead role in a future programme.

2. Programme organiser(s) to be drawn from the all vacuum users and industry ‘experts’.

3. Programme organisers to agree topic, title and length of programme (1 or 2 day) with Trustees before making commitments on behalf of Vacuum Symposium UK.

4. Vacuum Symposium UK will provide outline time schedules for the day.

5. Presentation lengths to be determined by the Programme Organiser.  It is suggested that plenty of ‘break time’ is included for networking and visiting the Exhibition.  Anything from 4 longer presentations (45 mins.) to 7 short presentations (20 mins.) will be sufficient for a one-day meeting.

6. A Keynote, or invited Speaker is encouraged for headline advertising of the meeting.

7. Programme organisers are responsible for securing Speakers and Abstracts at agreed timescales ahead of the Meeting.  [Suggested: Outline programme and title 6 months before meeting; Detailed programme 3 months before meeting].

8. Keep Trustees informed of any special requirements.  We will take care of any administrative and organisational aspects of the Meeting.

9. Interaction with the Trustees will mostly be accomplished by phone, email and an occasional meeting.  It will probably be necessary to attend a final pre-event meeting of all the organisers that is usually held 6 – 8 weeks before Vacuum Symposium UK.
